For the last few weeks, we've watched an unaccompanied, undocumented 17-year-old teen in Texas, known as Jane Doe, be denied an abortion by the Trump Administration. As troubling as her situation is, she isn't alone.
Like any other person in the U.S., this young woman should be able to make her own decisions about whether and when to become a parent. Yet, the Trump administration is quietly enforcing a policy that essentially bans abortion for undocumented immigrant girls while they're being held in custody. Trump's Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is even using coercion tactics by sending undocumented girls to crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) that are known for lying and shaming girls and women away from getting an abortion.
Documented or undocumented, all women in the U.S. must have access to legal and safe abortion. It is a constitutional right for anyone in this country.
Tell the Trump administration STOP this abortion ban against all undocumented girls.
